Letter of thanks to waste contractor Biffa from Vale councillors
Released on May 12, 2020
The leader of the Vale of White Horse District Council, Cllr Emily Smith and the leader of the opposition at the Vale of White Horse District Council, Cllr Simon Howell have written a letter of thanks on behalf of councillors and residents to the council’s waste contractor, Biffa, for their continued service through the Covid-19 pandemic. The letter can be read below:
We wanted to write on behalf of Vale District Councillors and residents to say a huge thank you to your waste collection crews and all Biffa staff who have been working so hard during the Covid pandemic.
The fact that your team have kept waste and recycling collections running during this difficult period of social distancing, with staff unwell and isolating, is greatly appreciated by our communities.
The reduction in services in Vale of White Horse was far smaller than most council areas and it is fantastic that all services are back up and running. Wonderful teamwork!
Feedback we have received from residents is overwhelmingly positive and it is wonderful to see so much appreciation for the important work that waste crews do to help keep us safe and our communities clean and healthy.
Thank you for working with our council officers to overcome the challenges Covid is bringing. Keep up the great work.
With best wishes
Councillor Emily Smith Leader of the Council
Councillor Simon Howell Leader of the Opposition
