Privacy Notice – Register of Electors
You are being asked for your details so that we can process your application to register to vote and associated functions such as voting by post or proxy.
Vale of White Horse District Council has a statutory duty to process applications under the Representation of the People Act 1983 and associated regulations. We are also legally required to keep these records for as long as you remain on the Register of Electors.
You have the right to request at any time:
- details of what data we hold about you; please read our webpage on data subject access requests
- that incorrect or out of date information about you be corrected.

There may be circumstances when we would share your personal data with one of our partners. To verify your identity, the data you provide will be processed by the Individual Electoral Registration Digital Service managed by the Cabinet Office. As part of this process your data will be shared with the Department of Work and Pensions and the Cabinet Office suppliers that are data processors for the Individual electoral Registration Digital Service. You are being asked for your name, address, bank details, telephone number, and email address etc so that we can process your application for temporary employment with the Electoral services team, and arrange payment.
